Biotecture

The Earthship home will keep you comfortable in most any climate on the planet. These Earthship plans are the result of 40 years of research and development in the field and on the drawing table. Because these plans are "off-the-rack," this a very "user friendly" approach for the owner/builder. This unit can be the easiest first step into the Earthship method of living.

Earthships

Michael Reynolds is an architect, innovator, and founder of Earthships in Taos, New Mexico. For more than three decades, he has been using recycled materials to build self-sufficient, off-the-grid housing. When he looks at "waste," Michael sees raw materials for sustainable living -- structures that might someday shelter large numbers of people. By putting elbow grease behind his vision, Earthships can be found all fifty states and around the world. He feels that these Earthships are not only homes but symbolic ships that sail on the seas of tomorrow.

Straw Bale House

Straw bale houses also make use of a common and regularly sized material that is relatively available and inexpensive. This regularity makes working with the building blocks relatively easy. Many such houses, once they are completed and covered outside and in, do not even look to be made of straw.
